This is responsible technical and administrative work in property management for the Port Everglades Department.

Work involves responsibility for managing and coordinating a variety of property management functions. Duties include lease administration, real estate, financial and management reporting, tenant relations and building operations. Assignments are received either orally or in writing. Work is performed independently with general supervision from an administrative superior. Performance is reviewed periodically through conferences, written reports and evaluation of results obtained.

Work also involves preparation, award, monitoring, administration and evaluation of bids and contracts negotiated with various public or private agencies for the maintenance of Port Everglades Life Safety Systems Contracts, including fire alarms, generators, sprinklers, fire pumps and extinguishers.


Administers the Port Everglades' Property Management Section; develops policies, procedures and priorities to meet established goals.

Negotiates, develops and prepares leases, development agreements, permits, amendments and other property agreements for office buildings, warehouses, open ground storage and other facilities at Port Everglades.

Initiates and develops responsible contacts with Port Everglades tenants to ensure favorable working relationships among departmental administration, tenants, Port Everglades clients and the community.

Periodically inspects, evaluates and monitors the Port Everglades' lease holds and facilities for compliance with terms and conditions contained in leases and property agreements and with established departmental practices.

Serves as a contract administrator responsible for the Life Safety Systems Contracts, including the maintenance and repair of fire alarms, generators, sprinklers, fire pumps and extinguishers.

Reviews and evaluates applications for leases and permits and makes recommendations to provide for maximum financial return and utilization of the Port Everglades' properties and facilities.

Maintains accurate records of all lease agreements for property and space rentals; identifies effective dates and termination dates, description of property, annual rental obligations, company name and any special agreements.

Assists in preparation and monitoring of budgets.

Prepares special reports as required.

Attends conferences and public and professional meetings.

Performs related work as required.


Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of real property management, commercial and industrial property leasing and contact management.

Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration.

Considerable knowledge of various Port Everglades properties including nature, condition, location and potential use.

Considerable knowledge of all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the leasing of real property at the Port Everglades.

Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of supervision, organization and administration.

Ability to negotiate and prepare complex leases and property agreements for the leasing of real property.

Ability to plan, implement and coordinate technical and administrative programs.

Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to carry out complex oral and written instruction.

Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgement in decision making.

Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation.


Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in public or business administration or related field; four (4) years experience in property management and lease administration; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.


Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
