NATURE OF WORK
This is professional work providing crisis intervention, assessment, referral and case management services to employees and their family members experiencing sociological or psychological problems affecting job performance. Work also involves training, coaching and facilitated discussions for resolution of individual or group conflicts.
Work is performed within established policies and procedures and is reviewed by a supervisor through conferences, reports, and observation of performance.
Performs confidential assessments with employees and their families to include referrals, case management, and appropriate follow up.
Creates and maintains accurate and timely documentation of case activity.
Researches and networks with mental health and chemical dependency service providers, as well as community resources, to establish an appropriate range of referral services for employees.
Provides substance abuse assessment and follow-up services to employees covered by U.S. DOT regulations, following the DOT Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) guidelines and monitors compliance with treatment plans.
Provides emergency on-site crisis intervention and follow-up services in response to traumatic incidents.
Conducts various educational and/or process trainings for employees and other target work groups as needed.
Conducts facilitated discussions and mediations for resolution of individual and group conflicts.
Employees in this classification may be required to function on call for response to emergencies or critical incidents.
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of methods, procedures and practices of employee assistance as a specialized discipline.
Ability to accurately gather, analyze and document information, including timely and appropriate documentation of case records.
Ability to maintain the privacy and security of sensitive and confidential information.
Demonstrated skills to clearly and professionally communicate information both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of addictions and clinical counseling skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop, design, and facilitate effective meetings, presentations, and training.
Knowledge of current laws, developments and literature regarding employee assistance.
Knowledge of mental health and chemical dependency service providers, as well as community resources, appropriate for employee referrals.
Ability to provide counseling, assessment and appropriate treatment referrals to employees experiencing sociological or psychological problems impacting job performance.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of BrowardCounty's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, color, religion, age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or political affiliation.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in clinical psychology or clinical social work or related field and four (4) years professional counseling experience in a mental health or clinical setting; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
State of Florida License as Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Marriage & Family Therapist. Must obtain U.S. DOT designation as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) within one year of date of employment.
