This is professional work in the compliance of state, federal and international aviation security regulations and airport security plan review work.


Position incumbent ensures compliance with security regulatory requirements and provides guidance to airport tenants and users throughout the airport regarding security issues. Conducts inspections of airport property to assess compliance of minimum standards pursuant to state and federal regulations. Assists in drafting airport security plans, policies and procedures and reports.  

Assignments are received in the form of general verbal and written instructions. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior. Performance is reviewed through conferences and written reports.

Performs other related duties as required.




Ensures compliance of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Security Program, assists with the evaluation of facility and tenant security programs, and all other security programs and policies required by law.


Coordinates and conducts inspections of airport property to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.   Issues notices of violations and citations for non-compliance with regulations.


Ensures adherence of security procedures and policies by Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport contract security personnel.


Represents the airport at meetings and activities involving airport safety and security service and issues.


Assists airport tenants as appropriate in meeting established local, state and federal security requirements.  May serve as a liaison with the Transportation Security Administration, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Bureau of Customs and Border Enforcement, and other local governmental, law enforcement, safety and security agencies regarding airport security issues as required.


Coordinates and conducts security related training for all airport employees requiring access to secure areas of the airport complex.


Performs related work as required.



Knowledge of state, federal, county and other regulations, policies and procedures applicable to airport security.

Knowledge of airport facilities and layout.

Ability to read and interpret building plans, site plans, development plans, aerials, and specifications relating to security regulation requirements.


Ability to recognize deviations from regulatory requirements and from established airport policies and procedures; and take appropriate action when necessary.


Ability to interpret and explain aviation security regulations, rules and procedures to airport tenants and users in a non-confrontational manner.


Ability to prepare and conduct security related training programs and related presentations.


Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to submit reports and maintain regulatory records.


Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of BrowardCounty’s Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.


Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials, and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, marital status, political affiliation, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or gender identity and expression. 



Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in airport management, business or public administration, or related field; two (2) years experience in aviation security coordination, including anti-terrorism procedures and protection of airport assets; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.



Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.

Must be able to secure and maintain compliance with airport security identification badge requirements and comply with all security and criminal background check requirements.
