This is responsible managerial, technical, and administrative work in the development and ongoing management of the content of the Broward County Internet and Intranet web sites.
Duties include planning, assigning and supervising the work of subordinate Web Site Designers. Work involves planning and developing information to enhance the county's communication with residents, businesses and other customers. Work includes meeting with County agencies to plan and develop their presence on the web site. Position incumbent collects and analyzes data, and advises the supervisor of trends and program impacts in order to assist in program planning and development activities. Position also is responsible for quality control processes and work flow. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior upon project completion or through work in progress.
Manages the development and maintenance of the Internet and Intranet web sites.

Designs, maintains and documents the development of web pages; reviews work for quality control and consistency.

Meets with representatives from county agencies to discuss web site project requests; provides assistance to clients as necessary. 
Monitors and maintains the accuracy and quality of information on the web site using both technological and qualitative methods.

Develops Internet related policies and standards.

Supervises web site designers; interfaces with graphic designers to develop complex graphics and HTML pages.

Implements time-sensitive updates to web site information from numerous agencies; manages work flow priorities and distribution.

Designs and recommends technical solutions based on Internet technologies.

Researches new technologies for web site enhancements in HyperText Markup Language (HTML), sound, video, animations, and other related features.

Writes and develops information as needed for placement on the web site.

Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques used in developing web sites.
Considerable knowledge in the operation of a computer and the use of computer software programs for creating web site pages in a variety of formats.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision, organization and administration.
Knowledge of basic web server and file system maintenance.
Ability to work independently, plan, organize and execute assignments with minimum supervision.
Ability to organize and coordinate multiple, time-sensitive assignments, and to maintain work records.
Ability to plan, direct, coordinate and supervise the work of subordinates.
Ability to conduct research, organize, analyze, prepare and present technical information.
Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of Broward County's Ethics and Conflict of Interest policies.

Skill in the use of computer software utilized in preparing web pages.


Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in communications, computer science or related field; four (4) years experience in web site development and in the creation of HTML and related documents, including two (2) years experience in the supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
