NATURE OF WORK
This is administrative, professional and technical work managing the automation of the official and public records of Broward County.
Work involves determining, directing and participating in the overall design, development and implementation of an automated records system for the County Records Division. Duties include providing high-level direction on the integration of new technologies with existing application systems, developing an automation program strategic plan for the division and integrating document imaging applications. Supervision is exercised over a staff of professional and technical personnel. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior through conferences and evaluation of program achievements.
Develops and manages the County Records' automation program strategic plan to improve and enhance the provision of services.
Reviews, develops and enforces information system standards, policies and procedures within approved county regulations.
Provides technical leadership and project management in ensuring the successful integration of new methods and technologies in records management automation with existing application systems.
Manages the daily operations of the County Records' information system.
Supervises technical and project staff in developing and implementing a records automation system.
Oversees and arranges technical computer training for divisional staff; oversees procurement of divisional hardware, software, peripherals and consultant/contractor/vendor services.
Prepares and reviews automation requirements and cost-benefit analyses; oversees vendor selection and contract negotiations; maintains divisional information systems documentation.
Attends meetings and conferences; represents the division on information system matters.
Performs related work as required.

Considerable knowledge of document recording processes and archiving requirements.
Considerable knowledge of the current trends and developments in the field of information systems technology and document imaging.

Ability to analyze work systems and processes, and organize their components into logical systems.
Ability to plan, coordinate and direct a work team through various project/program levels.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, business administration, or closely related field; thorough administrative experience in planning and managing automation system programs or projects including experience in the supervisory aspects of the work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
