Salary Range:  $62,561.00 - $92,771.00 per year (dependent on qualifications)

Broward County is seeking an experienced professional engineer to serve as Engineer III – Water/Wastewater Engineer for the Water and Wastewater Services Operations Division, a large water and wastewater utility in South Florida serving 600,000 customers. If you are a dynamic, accomplished engineer with considerable knowledge of environmental engineering as applied to water/wastewater treatment and are seeking a challenge, then consider this outstanding opportunity.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This is advanced professional engineering work in the assessment, evaluation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment processes in large municipal treatment facilities. Incumbent will be responsible for a wide variety of engineering and environmental projects related to water and wastewater treatment and maintenance of treatment facilities. Work requires the application of advanced engineering skills and knowledge and affords opportunities to exercise considerable independent judgment. Assignments usually are received in the form of broad instructions or general program objectives. Work is reviewed for general adherence to established guidelines and procedures. Experience in the operation of large municipal treatment facilities and in negotiations with regulatory agencies is preferred. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to express ideas effectively orally and in writing.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in civil, environmental, or industrial engineering or related field; at least five years of increasingly responsible operational experience of water or wastewater treatment plant facilities; or any equivalent combination of training and experience

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida is required. Status of licensure must be clear documented in the resume.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience and is accompanied by an attractive benefits package including participation in the Florida Retirement System.
