New Substance Abuse Facility in the Works
Broward County is moving forward with its long planned effort to build a new headquarters for the Broward Addiction Recovery Center (BARC) at the corner of SW 27th Street and 4th Avenue. BARC offers a comprehensive range of services for residents affected by substance abuse. The current facility is in a former church with limited space, 34 beds and aging equipment. BARC and FPL Collaborate on Treatment Center Beautification Project
Over 40 Florida Power and Light Company (FPL) volunteers recently arrived at the Broward County treatment center to beautify the outdoor areas surrounding the facility. FPL volunteers along with BARC staff overhauled an overgrown and dreary garden with new plantings, decorative landscaping, mulch and a new butterfly garden. Broward Addiction Recovery Center Earns Accreditation
The Broward County Addiction Recovery Center (BARC), administered through the County's Human Services Department, has earned the Gold seal of Approval for accreditation by complying with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety in behavioral health care.
