HIP Section

Homeless Initiative Partnership Section (HIP) is the designated Lead Agency for the Broward County Homeless Continuum of Care (Coc) Board as well as the CoC’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

HIP serves as staff to the Continuum of Care (CoC) Board, the County’s focal point for planning and coordinating services homeless families and individuals. HIP provides support to the Homeless Providers and Stakeholders Council and is responsible for carrying out the CoC Board’s responsibilities designated as the Local Coalition by the State of Florida.

Broward Advisory Board Recommends Tax to Aid the Homeless The Broward County Continuum of Care Homeless Advisory Board (CoC) unanimously voted to recommend a one-cent food and beverage restaurant tax to Broward County Commissioners. The recommended tax, comparable to one implemented in Miami-Dade County, would be used to fund housing and services for the homeless. County Selected to Join National Campaign to End Veteran and Chronic Homelessness

Broward County has been selected to participate in Zero: 2016, a national campaign to end veteran and chronic homelessness in the next two years. Over 400 communities applied for the program and the County was among 68 chosen to participate. The Campaign is being spearheaded by Community Solutions, a national non-profit group. The organization said it would partner with the County to meet the federal goals set by President Obama to end veteran homelessness by Dec. 2015 and chronic homelessness by December 2016.
