The Dismantling Racism Initiative from the from Human Resources' Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Section invites Broward County staff to attend a "Two-day Phase 1: Racial Equity Virtual Workshop" facilitated by the Racial Equity Institute. Workshops are from 9AM to 5PM and your commitment is for both days. This is an interactive workshop and participants will need to have a working web camera and microphone. Agencies receiving funding from the Human Services Department can register for one of the following workshops by contacting your Contract Grants Administrator. Broward County employees can register in the employee learning center.

  • December 13-14, 2023
  • February 27-28, 2024
  • March 20-21, 2024

This workshop helps individuals understand how institutions and systems are producing unjust and inequitable outcomes and outlines how a person's race is a primary indicator and predictor of health, social, education, criminal justice and other outcomes.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Section is also offering employees the opportunity to participate in Racial Equity Institute's virtual half-day “Groundwater Presentation" on racial data disparities across the nation on Wednesday, January 10, 9AM-12PM. Stories and data will be used to present a perspective that racism is fundamentally structural in nature. By examining characteristics of modern-day racial inequity, the presentation introduces participants to an analysis that most find immediately helpful and relevant. The “Groundwater Presentation" complements Phase 1: Racial Equity Workshops taking place throughout the year. Employees can register in the employee learning center.

*Please be patient as we continue to work towards allowing members of the public to register for the Two-Day Racial Equity Workshops and Groundwater Presentations. If you are interested in participating in a workshop, email DiversityEquityandInclusion@broward.org.
