Report Misconduct 954-357-TIPS
Public Employees

Broward’s county employees are governed by the Constitution of the State of Florida, the State Code of Ethics (Chapter 112 of the Florida Statutes), and the Broward Code of Conduct (Sections 26-67 et seq. of the Broward County Code of Ordinances).  Municipal employees must follow the Constitution of the State of Florida, the State Code of Ethics (Chapter 112 of the Florida Statutes), and any applicable, more restrictive municipal laws (see F.S. 112.326).

In addition to other laws, employees are expected to abide by ethics laws relating to:

  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Disclosures
  • Gift Acceptance and Reporting
  • Lobbying and Lobbyists
  • Nepotism
  • Open Meetings
  • Public Records

Here are ethics laws applicable to all public employees:

Documents referencing Broward County employee ethics, including the employee ethics policy, FAQs, gift reporting and response forms can be accessed by County employees on BC-Net.

These municipal charters and codes contain references to municipal employee ethics provisions:

You may find the OIG’s training supplements on the subjects of Conflicts of Interest for Officials and Employees, Disclosure Requirements for Elected Officials, and Officials and Employees Accepting and Reporting Gifts to be helpful in identifying ethics issues and in locating relevant ethics laws.
