How to Place a Hold

If you find a book, DVD, or CD that you want, you can have it delivered to any Broward County Library location of your choice for pick-up. Please note: After January 1, 2012, a $1 fee will be charged to your library card account for any library materials placed on hold and not picked up.

In the Visual Catalog:

1 - Find It
Search for a material. In this search, we entered the keywords SAT. A hold button should appear to the left of the image of the item. Click on the text that reads HOLD.

Find the item and click Hold.

2 - Log In
In this Catalog, you can create an easy-to-remember username, instead of using your library card number, last name, and last four digits of your telephone number associated with your library card account. This EZ Log On makes it even easier to use your library.

Enter your library card information.

3 - Reserve It
Once you have logged on, you can select the Broward County Library location of your choice and click SUBMIT HOLD. If you change your mind, just click CANCEL and it will take you back to the library item from your search.

Select a pickup location and click the Submit Hold button.

In the Traditional Catalog:

Search for a material. In this search, we entered the keyword SAT and selected Title Word for an exact search.

1 - Find It
Once you find an item that you want to place on hold, click on the item to bring up its full record. Click on Place hold in the left navigation, which is the yellow bar to the left of the record. Place hold is the second item.

Find the item and click Place Hold.

2 - Log In
Enter your library card number, last name, and the last four digits associated with your library card account.

Enter your library card information.

3 - Reserve It
Select the library location of your choice and click Place hold. You can also select a date if you want the hold cancelled beyond a certain date.

Select a pickup location and click the hold button.

If you change your mind, click on the first link in the left navigation bar in yellow that reads: Cancel hold and return to full record.
