Northwest 5th Avenue Project
We're Building a Tribute to Fort Lauderdale's NW 5th Avenue of the late 1940s
for a Major Exhibit at AARLCC
...And we need your help!
The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center is looking for pictures, souvenirs, signs, mementos and other materials to help us recreate Northwest 5th Avenue during the mid to late 1940s, when this street was recognized as the "Center of Commerce and Entertainment" for the Black Community.
The scanned images will be used to create the look of Northwest 5th Avenue in a museum-quality exhibit somewhat resembling a stage set with individual building facades and interactive displays located in the museum gallery of the library.
Be part of the experience with whatever material you have.
