Saturday Storytelling Series
Saturday Storytelling Series features Suzi Whaples March 19
at the Museum of Art
Family audiences are invited to Broward County Library’s FREE monthly Saturday Storytelling Series: One World, Many Stories. The series continues at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale’s Horvitz Auditorium, One East Las Olas Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, on March 19th at 2 p.m.
The March program will feature storyteller Suzi Whaples, whose tales are steeped in Appalachian tradition and humor. Her unaffected dialect, lightning quick wit and a gentle demeanor perfectly blend stories of her life, her family’s lives, and some that are even larger than life. The stories she tells are almost all her own experiences and creations, and appeal to children of all ages and adults alike.
Well known South Florida storyteller Fereydoun Kian will be the opening act on March 19th. Mr. Kian is an internationally known author, collector of global folktales, and award-winning storyteller, of Iranian descent.
Completing the afternoon lineup will be Miami folk guitarist Inez Barlatier, whose original songs are strongly influenced by her Haitian-American roots.
Mistress of Ceremonies will be Dr. Caren Neile, an award-winning storyteller, radio hostess and founding director of the Florida Atlantic University South Florida Storytelling Project.
The final program in the series will be held at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderale on April 23rd. Call 954-357-7406 for information.
