For the members of the Broward County Library Advisory Board, improving the library's programs and procedures is all part of their job description.

The Library Advisory Board is group of Broward County men and women that advises the Division of Libraries, the County Administrator and the County Commission on all matters pertaining to the library systems and public library service. Each Broward County Commissioner appoints two board members from his or her district - each serves two-year terms and can be reappointed indefinitely. Whether offering opinions on cultural events, community affairs, or even the book collection, the Board is the people's voice on all matters pertaining to Broward County Library.

The Library Advisory Board also recommends policies and programs to the Libraries Division for consideration as well as offering ideas to the County Administrator, and County Commission for improving the quality of the library system. The Library Advisory Board encourages the utilization of professional and financial assistance from the state, federal, and other sources of library funding.

The members of the Library Advisory Board are Broward residents who have demonstrated an active interest in public libraries and services. Board memberships are unpaid positions, and during their tenure, members of the Library Advisory Board cannot hold another public office or be employed by any library.
