Print Sources

The Reference Section, located on the fifth floor of the Broward County Main Library, has a collection of reference materials providing tax information from both governmental and commercial sources. This information includes legal publications as well as more general "how to" publications. Circulating books on taxation are located on the fourth floor of the Broward County Main Library.

Among the Reference Section’s holdings in the field of taxation are federal tax forms, publications, laws, and U.S. Tax Court decisions.

Note: Books on taxation are available at many branches of the Broward County Library and are generally classified in the 336.2 Dewey Decimal area of the library. 

Services – Income Tax Assistance

Trained AARP volunteers provide one-on-one tax assistance for basic tax returns, on the 7th floor of the Broward County Main Library, between February and April of each year.

This is a searchable and annotated subject directory of internet resources that provide accurate, factual information on many topics. Select “Business” and then “Tax Filing Season” or type a keyword in the search box.

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) - website 
The official site of the IRS provides IRS forms and publications for printing or downloading. It also provides answers to frequently-asked questions and an overview of the support services offered by the IRS.

U.S. Tax Code Online - website  
Complete access to the IRS Tax Code is provided, and is searchable by keyword or section number.

AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Tax-Aide Program
AARP trained and certified volunteers provide tax help at the Main Library. Appointments may be made by calling 954-357-7485.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
VITA trained and certified volunteers offer free tax help to low-to-moderate income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
