David Z. Stone
Assistant County Attorney
Joined the Office in 2001
David Stone represents the Risk Management Division in worker’s compensation matters. Because the County has more than 5,000 employees, Mr. Stone’s practice is a busy one, and most cases are actively litigated. Mr. Stone also litigates workers compensation cases for certain other local government or nonprofit agencies, such as the Broward County Clerk of Courts, the Supervisor of Elections, the Property Appraiser, and the Performing Arts Center Authority.
Mr. Stone’s involvement in his cases extends from initial claims all the way through litigation or settlement-drafting.
In addition to managing this caseload, Mr. Stone advises County claims adjusters and keeps them up-to-date on the latest legal developments in the workers’ compensation field, and prepares legal opinions for the Risk Management Division.
Before joining the County Attorney’s Office, Mr. Stone worked as an attorney for several other local governments, including the cities of Miami, Hollywood and North Miami Beach, and in private practice.
