How to Renew & Hold Materials

How to Place a Hold

If you find a book, DVD, or CD that you want, you can have it delivered to any Broward County Library location of your choice for pick-up. Please note: A $1 fee will be charged to your library card account for any library materials placed on hold and not picked up. 

Broward County Library Catalog

1 - FIND IT
Search for a material in search bar at top of screen.  Use "Advanced" features if you want to filter your search.

2 - LOG IN
You can either log in with your library card number/last name/last four digits of your phone number or create an "EZ Login" username/password.

3 - HOLD IT
Once you are logged in, select the Broward County Library location of your choice and tap the orange PLACE HOLD button. If you change your mind, just tap the CANCEL button and it will take you back to the library item from your search. 

Select a pickup location and click the Submit Hold button.  


The Traditional Catalog (Unsupported)

NOTE:  this catalog is longer supported by the vendor and will cease to function on November 15, 2017. We encourage you to begin using the standard Broward County Library Catalog if you have not done so already.​

1 - Find It
Once you find an item that you want to place on hold, click on the item to bring up its full record. Click on Place hold in the left navigation, which is the yellow bar to the left of the record. Place hold is the second item.  

2 - Log In
Enter your library card number, last name, and the last four digits associated with your library card account.  

3 - Reserve It
Select the library location of your choice and click Place hold. You can also select a date if you want the hold cancelled beyond a certain date. If you change your mind, click on the first link in the left navigation bar in yellow that reads: Cancel hold and return to full record.


Renewing Checked Out Items

Broward County Library Catalog

1 - Log In
Enter your EZ Login or library card number/last name/last four digits of phone number.

2 - My Account
Once you have logged in, go to your Account at the top right of the page.

3 - Renew
From the Account Summary screen, go to "View Loans" and tap the orange "Renew Loan" button on any materials you want to renew.  The system will indicate whether the item is available to renew or not, and if it is, a new Due Date will be generated.  

Traditional Catalog (Unsupported)

1 - Log In
Enter your library card number, last name, and the last four digits associated with your library card account.

2 - Check Out
Once you have logged on, you can click the Checked out link on the Patron Information Summary page. This link will take you to a summary of all the items that you currently have checked out.

3 - Renew
From the Checked Out Summary screen, you can either click the Renew all items button to renew all of your checked out items, or you can click on a specific highlighted title link to go to a Checked Out Detail screen. From there, you can click on the Renew this item button to renew that item. A confirmation screen will appear to confirm your renewal.


Telephone Call or E-Mail?

You will receive a telephone call at the telephone number corresponding to your library card when your materials arrive at the library selected.
