Kwame Alexander

Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, bestselling author of 39 books and a regular contributor to NPR's "Morning Edition." He is also the executive producer, showrunner and writer of "The Crossover" TV series on Disney+, based on his Newbery Medal-winning novel of the same name, which premiered in April 2023. He has received numerous honors, including the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award, the Coretta Scott King Award, three NAACP Image Award nominations and the Inaugural Pat Conroy Legacy Award. A Kennedy Center-commissioned national tour began in January 2023 for his musical "Acoustic Rooster’s Barnyard Boogie: Starring Indigo Blume," based on characters from his children’s books.
