The Fort Lauderdale Reading Center, one of the county’s oldest libraries, is located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale, close to shopping, the beach, and beautiful Holiday Park. In addition to its collection of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and other circulating materials, the Fort Lauderdale Reading Center also has public access computers and free wireless internet access.
The Fort Lauderdale Reading Center also shares space with two other organizations, Stonewall National Museum & Archives and ArtServe. The Stonewall National Museum & Archives offers the largest LGBTQ circulating library in the United States, as well as programs, events and reading groups. ArtServe, which is also housed in the Fort Lauderdale Reading Center building, is a multi-purpose facility that offers venues and office space to more than 350 nonprofit cultural organizations and artists. Additionally, they host many art exhibits and seminars on arts and culture.
