New Computer System – The Library plans to upgrade its Integrated Library computer System (ILS) to a client server platform over Memorial Day Weekend. ILS is the core of a sophisticated inventory management system that oversees library technologies including the PC Reservation systems, copy and print management systems, Point of Sale (POS), materials ordering functions, Network Add Value Stations (NAVS), etc. The migration involves millions of transaction and bibliographic records.
The new system helps position the library to handle an increasing workload at fewer locations, with shorter hours and smaller staff, and offers new and improved catalog options.
