West Regional Library
Focus on Friends - Friends of the West Regional Library
The Friends of West Regional was organized in 1984 and has actively supported the West Regional Library since that time.
The Friends provide monies for all children's programs, including the Summer Library Program for both children and teens, the International Festival, College night, SAT prep, as well as reading incentives throughout then year. For adults, they underwrite the popular Foreign Film series, numerous exhibits, musical performances and lectures. For staff they provide funding for training and educational trips to various conferences and conventions. They also pay the expenses of the annual staff Christmas party and several recognition events during the year.
Fundraising is accomplished through an ongoing book fair and a very successful gift shop located in the lobby of the library. In addition, the Friends receive a generous yearly donation from the Plantation Woman's Club.
Dues are $10 and the membership is currently 166 paid members. The 10 member Board meets on the second Monday of the month at the library and is the decision-making arm of the group.
This Friends actively supports advocacy efforts of the Friends of Broward County Library, Inc.
