Interlibrary Loan, also known as Resource Sharing, provide materials that are not available in the Broward County Library (BCL) collection. BCL library card holders can request to borrow a multitude of resources such as books, audiovisuals, newspaper and periodical articles, microfilm, and musical scores from libraries located all across the United States. The requests for materials can be placed electronically through the WorldCat database, or at any BCL branch and asking any librarian for assistance.
If you use the online service, the following steps will assist you in handling your requests:
- First check to see if the item is in our Catalog
- If the item isn't in our Catalog, search WorldCat
- When you locate the item, click on the ILL icon and fill out the online form.
NOTE: Please provide a valid email address so we can notify you directly about the status of your filled or unfilled request. If you do not use email, please write NONE into the address field. It is important for you to "Select a Library" on each and every request so that Broward County Library's Interlibrary Loan section will know where to send your materials. To track the status of your requests, you can use the "My Account" feature of WorldCat to place your requests. You do need to register by establishing a permanent User Name and Password. All subsequent interlibrary loan requests can then be placed and tracked by logging into My Account and viewing the Patron Resource Sharing tab.
