Money Smart Week® (April 5-12) @your libraryThere’s a whole lot of business going on at the library during April and May! In addition to the year-round business and finance workshops held regularly at library locations countywide, there will be special events held for Money Smart Week® (April 5-12) and Small Business Month (May).

Couch cluttered with paper work, a laptop, a phone, coffee cup, mobile device and pencils and a penMoney Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002 that is designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Hundreds of organizations across the country come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week.

Need business help online? Check out Broward County Library’s collection of business resources online. You can access information on U.S. and global companies, read investment reports, business articles and up-to-the minute information on stocks, funds and industry data. Find demographic data or learn how to market your small business. All you need to get started is your free Broward County Library card.
 
Couple sitting down with an employment resource managerIf checking out a new career or job is part of your business plan, get assistance from job and employment resources you can access from a computer anywhere with a Broward County Library card. Broward eTutor even provides live, online professional assistance in résumé and cover letter writing, career coaching, GED and U.S. Citizenship test prep, college placement prep, Microsoft Office Essential Skills series and more.
 
The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) Small Business Resource Center
 
The Small Business Resource Center, located at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC), offers resources both online and at AARLCC to assist with business plans, marketing, money matters and more. Two Broward County agencies – the Office of Economic and Small Business Development and the Purchasing Division – present an annual series of informational workshops there that are designed to assist entrepreneurs in accessing County procurement opportunities.
