Dig Into Reading with Broward County Library’s Children & Teen Summer Reading Program!

Get ready for good times and great reads as the 2013 Summer Reading Program for Children & Teens kicks off June 8, 2013 at 33 various Broward County Library locations. Kids can visit their library to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. For event details, please download the 2013 Summer Reading Program Guide or visit the Summer Reading Live Calendar for Children and Teens. You can also pick up the booklet at any Broward County Library location.

Summer reading is crucial when it comes to maintaining children’s reading skills, with studies showing shown that reading over the summer prevents “summer reading loss.” Children can lose up to three months of reading progress and they don’t catch up in the fall.

The Summer Reading Program, which is sponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation and the Miami Dolphins, motivates children to read for the fun of it by offering rewards and prizes. The more you read the more chances you’ll have to win fabulous prizes including:

  • Dolphins Home Game Club Level Experience for a Family
  • VIP Day at the Miami Dolphins Training Camp/lunch provided by Papa John’s Pizza
  • Two-ticket package to Miami Seaquarium
  • Dolphin Odyssey at Miami Seaquarium
  • Parent-and-child Ticket Package for Young At Art Museum
  • Family Four-Pack of Tickets to Miami Children’s Museum
  • Family Four-Pack of Tickets to Jungle Island
  • Team-signed Jersey from the Fort Lauderdale Strikers
  • iPad 3
  • Kindle Fire
  • $250 Toy Store Gift Certificate
  • $250 Publix Gift Certificate
