Fort Lauderdale Buildings in Abstract Black-and-White on Display at the Main Library in June
Fort Lauderdale Buildings in Abstract Black-and-White will be on display at the Main Library, gallery six, during the month of June 2017. Fort Lauderdale Buildings in Abstract Black-and-White is an exhibition of monochrome photographs that transform ordinary buildings into extraordinary abstract art with curves and hard-edge angles.
For more than 10 years, Peruvian photographers Sharon Pastor and Martin Zuniga have used unusual angles, high-contrast light and shadow to achieve these effects.
The technique of shooting in the abstract along with many other creative and artistic photographic applications are taught free at weekly Saturday sessions held on the fifth floor of Main Library. Beginners’ class (introductory) is held from 11AM to 1PM and intermediate-advanced is held from 2 to 5PM.
Broward County Libraries, in conjunction with T-Mobile, now offers the Veterans Connect Hotspot Program, which lets veterans, active military members and their dependents check out free Wi-Fi hotspots. The free hotspots provide unlimited access to the Internet and can be checked out and kept for up to four months.
To borrow a Hotspot, visit one of the nine participating Broward County Library locations and present your Broward County Library card and valid military ID (Veterans Identification Card (VIC), Active Duty ID card, Guard/Reserve Military ID Card, Retiree Military ID Card or Military Dependent ID Card).
