It’s time to “Build a Better World” with Broward County Libraries' Summer Learning Program! Enjoy exciting activities, register for our learning program and meet reading and learning goals to win fun prizes. It's open to all ages and has four categories - Early Learner, Children, Teen and Adult - each with specific goals and prizes.

Participants may register at Broward.org/Library/Summer beginning May 18, then track their reading and learning activities either online or on printed game boards. Summer Learning Program participants of all ages can win prizes such as Duplo sets, tablets, wireless headphones, tickets to local museums and activities and round-trip plane tickets.

Programs and events include dance and Zumba classes, performances, arts and crafts, concerts, book discussions, movie screenings, story times and more. The 2017 Build a Better World theme invites everyone to build reading and learning skills as well as knowledge in STEM concepts of science, technology, engineering and math with a wide range of STEM-related Summer Learning Program activities.

Broward County Public Schools Summer Learning Week

This year, through partnerships with the Broward County Public Schools and Broward Reads, the 2017 Summer Learning Program has expanded and is now the primary summer learning program for the entire county. From May 22-26, students all over the county will participate in the Broward County Summer Learning Week by reading together and receiving Summer Learning Program materials and game boards. Students who register before June 1st can go to their local library and pick up a fun prize. The entire community will begin tracking their reading and learning activities on June 1st and will continue until August 20th, the day before the 2017-2018 school year begins.

Free Food and Fun at Your Library

The 2017 Summer Learning Program includes our Summer BreakSpot summer lunch program, offered in partnership with Broward Meals on Wheels and funded by the Florida Department of Agriculture.  Through this program, kids ages 18 and under can enjoy a free lunch and/or an afternoon snack. Served on a first come, first served basis, the free meals/snacks will be served at 28 locations.

Register for the Broward County Library Summer Learning Program online at Broward.org/Library/Summer or in person at any Broward County Library location.

Funding and support for the Summer Learning Program is provided by Broward Reads, Broward County Public Schools, the Children's Services Council and the Broward Public Library Foundation.
