Due to the effects of Hurricane Irma the following libraries are closed today: Beach branch and Galt Ocean Mile Reading Center.

Late fees, as well as fines for holds not picked up, will be waived through Wednesday, September 20, 2017. You may return items to any operational Broward County library branch.

Broward County is Eligible for FEMA Assistance

stormy beachThe Federal Emergency Management Agency has declared Broward County eligible for individual assistance. FEMA Disaster Assistance can help support your recovery from a major disaster. If you have damage or sustained impact that you believe will result in future damage register now either online at disasterassistance.gov or you can call 1-800-621-3362 to register. FEMA is encouraging homeowners to register early. Apply now at DisasterAssistance.gov.

No Internet service? Visit one of the open Broward County Library locations listed above. Someone will be there to assist you in getting online.

Have the following information available to complete the online registration process:

  1. Social Security Number
  2. Financial information: Family’s total gross household income at the time of the disaster.
  3. Information: Address and phone number of damaged dwelling and current and mailing address and phone numbers where you can be contacted.
  4. Insurance Information: Identify the types of insurance coverage you have.
  5. Pen and Paper: To record Registration ID number. You will need to keep this number for future reference.
  6. Bank Electronic Funds Transfer/Direct Deposit Information: You will be asked to provide the following banking information. (Although it is optional, this is the most effective way to receive payment if determined eligible).
    • Institution name
    • Type of account
    • Routing and account number
