Merengue and Bachata Dance Workshops presented by UV Latin Dance
The Dominican Republic is known for Merengue and Bachata music which uses
traditional instruments like the tambora, guiro, cuatro, accordion, trumpets and
saxophones. In the midst of the chaos and hardship of the Trujillo
dictatorship, the Dominican people found ways to combat their emotions with song
and dance - celebrating to forget and to bring unity. Taught by professional
instructors from UV Latin Dance Academy in Miami Beach, the class will began
with a brief, 15-minute introduction explaining the significance of the dances in
Dominican culture, followed by a demonstration of each dance, and conclude with
a 60-minute dance lesson. (40 participants max per workshop).
