A Solar Grand Plan: 2007. This article by Ken Zweibel, James Mason and Vasilis Fthenakis appeared in the December 2007 issue of Scientific American. It discusses how solar power could end U.S. dependence on foreign oil and slash greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Regional Per-Capita Solar Electric Footprint for the United States: December 2007. P. Denholm and R. Margolis quantify the state-by-state per-capita ’solar electric footprint’ for the United States. They conclude that the solar electric footprint, defined as the land area required to supply all end-use electricity from solar photovoltaics, is about 181 m2 per person in the United States.
