National Association of Counties Green Government Initiative: In 2008, the NACo Green Government Initiative launched the "Green Government Database". It is a searchable database of all things green for counties including green programs, policies, plans, ordinances, and codes. Topics covered in the database include:

  • Global Warming/Climate Change/Air Quality
  • Indoor Air Quality/Pest Management/Green Cleaning
  • Green Building - commercial and residential
  • Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy
  • Fleets - alternative fuels and vehicles
  • Transportation
  • Land Use - conservation, trees, landscaping, open space
  • Water - conservation and quality
  • Waste Management - reduction, prevention, recycling
  • Staff Resources - internal audits/inventories, trainings, teams, committees, task forces, etc.

King County 2007 Climate Plan (PDF): King County, Washington is a leader in the development of policies and plans to address climate change.  Their Climate Plan is a forward-looking, ambitious and optimistic work plan based on the conviction that climate change is both a problem and an opportunity for leadership, public health improvements, and economic prosperity.
