Downtown Campus
The Planning and Redevelopment Division is  currently working with the Consultant HDR on the Downtown Campus Project which is a public/private partnership P3 to develop a unique redevelopment opportunity in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale. The Plan signifies the redevelopment of approximately 9.25 acres of land currently owned by the County. The project area is located on and surrounding the Broward County Governmental Center site north of the New River on the northeast, southwest and southeast quadrants of the intersection of Broward Boulevard and SW First Avenue. Brickell Avenue bisects the site to the south of Broward Boulevard.

rendering of urban center

Envisioned to be a vibrant downtown complete with an array of housing types and mixed uses, the Downtown Campus will be a reflection of community leadership, a center for public gathering, and the focal point of pride and quality of life. The County would like to take a leadership role in the redevelopment efforts by creating a unique sense of place in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The project includes an articulated pedestrian environment centered on Brickell Avenue with direct connections to the existing public open spaces such as the Riverwalk and Stranahan Park.

The Downtown Campus will offer the opportunity to construct an architecturally unique environment that will help establish Broward County as one of the nation's most visually attractive counties. The new governmental center and the associated mixed-use development will be designed to inspire residents and visitors alike.
