Guided Nature Walks - Sundays, 9:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. Explore the trails at Secret Woods while learning about native South Florida habitats. For all ages. Free.
Krafting With Kay: Fun With Felt - Sunday, May 6, 2 p.m. Explore traditional crafts in nontraditional ways. This month, felt projects. Some projects will require hand sewing. Preregistration is required, and there is a $2 donation to the Friends of Secret Woods volunteer group requested.
Herbilicious Herbs Class - Thursday, May 10, 7 p.m. Learn about cultivating herbs, making tinctures, and modern usages of herbs. You'll also leave with your own starter herb garden. Preregistration is required. A $20 donation to the Friends of Secret Woods volunteer group is requested.
EcoAction Workday - Saturday, May 12, 9 a.m. Volunteers clean up trash, plant native plants, and/or remove non-native invasive plants. Students can earn community service hours for graduation and college scholarships, and others can help improve and preserve the environment. Volunteers should dress appropriately with long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes that can get dirty. Participants should bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and drinking water. Extra tools such as shovels, rakes, and hand pruners are welcome. A volunteer form must be filled out in order to participate. Free.
Delightful Flight - Sunday, May 20, noon. Get an up-close look at some of Florida's butterflies and learn about gardens that attract these delightful insects. $1.50 per person.
Wonderful Reptiles
- Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m. Meet some of the native reptiles that call South Florida and Secret Woods home. Free.
Slough Slog
- Sunday, May 27, 9:30 a.m. Explore one of Broward's last wild pond apple forests looking for rare wetland plants and animals. Closed-toe shoes, a walking stick, and drinking water are required for this strenuous back-country tour. The program is for ages 9 and up and is $6 per person.
Jamming in the Park - Sunday, May 27, 1 p.m. Bring your favorite instrument and join in an acoustic music jam. Free.

Volunteers Needed!
Learn about photography, painting, recycling, plants, and nature as you volunteer to help at our special events. Hike our trails and pick up litter, plant native trees, remove exotic plants, or maintain our geocaches and letterboxes. Feeling crafty? Design and create signs, decorations, and games for our upcoming programs. Need community service hours to graduate? We'll customize a program tailored to your interests and schedule.
