Broward Boating Improvement Program
The Broward Boating Improvement Program (BBIP) provides funds for projects such as the construction of boat ramps, recreational channel marking, public docking and mooring facilities, access roads and parking for public launching facilities, derelict vessel removal and recreational boating-related support facilities and utilities.

It is funded by noncommercial vessel registration fees and is based on a percentage of the actual registration fees collected. The account is continuous, and the funds may accumulate.

State rules provide for counties to expend the monies or, at the County’s discretion, to allow municipalities to access the funds. Counties are to ensure that the municipalities properly expend the funds and administer the BBIP project according to State rules.

The Parks and Recreation Division acts as the County Liaison and is responsible for the administration of this program in conjunction with the Marine Advisory Committee (MAC).

The annual allocations for this program are approximately $320,000. Since its inception in 1974, the MAC has recommended $19.2 million for the development of recreational marine facilities and projects.
