Broward County Parks announces the return of Florida Bicycle Month - March 2015. Florida Bicycle Month features a number of fitness and education-centered events for riders of all ages to enjoy. Events will take place throughout the month at various county and city parks.

Traffic Safety Presentation and Bicycle Rodeo Training
The Broward County Highway Construction and Engineering Division, in conjunction with the Broward County Parks and Recreation Division, is holding a Traffic Safety Presentation and Bicycle Rodeo Training on February 13, 2015, at Tree Tops Park in Davie. This workshop teaches participants how to fit bicycle helmets correctly, bicycle/pedestrian laws and safety tips, defensive walking and bicycling skills, and how to conduct a bicycle rodeo. Participants will ride bicycles to practice the skills they will teach children during rodeos and in other educational settings. Anyone interested in teaching children about bicycle and pedestrian safety is encouraged to attend. Preregistration is required.

Broward County’s newest mode of public transportation, Broward B-cycle, rolled into action in 2012. This bike-sharing system allows people to check out a bicycle at a public bike station for a small fee and return it to another station when done. Broward B-cycle is a new affordable and a convenient way of taking short trips around town or connecting to other transportation such as BCT. It is also the latest healthy way of reducing traffic congestion, pollution and carbon emissions.
Since its launch, the Broward B-cycle system established 22 stations in six Broward County cities. Milestones include:
- 95,560 trips taken since B-cycle launch
- 1,418 annual members enrolled
- 19 percent increase in usage from 2013 to 2014

Florida Recreation and Park Association Bicycle Month Promotion
Bethany Lamar with the City of Tamarac Community Center won the Bicycle Month promotion at the Florida Recreation and Park Association's holiday luncheon on December 5, 2014. Bethany won a bicycle, helmet, and lock to be used as a giveaway prize at her Bicycle Month event in March 2015. Congrats!

Bike America at Quiet Waters Park
Bike America at Quiet Waters Park features bike rentals, sales, and service. Enjoy one of the South Florida's most beautiful parks by bicycle. Store hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Monday and Tuesday. Rentals include dual-suspension mountain bikes, hard-trail mountain bikes, comfort bikes, kids' bikes, and kids' trailers. GoPro cameras, and knee and elbow pads are also available to rent. City of Hollywood Kay Gaither Bicycle Scavenger Hunt
The City of Hollywood held the Kay Gaither Bicycle Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Kay Gaither Community Center. As part of the scavenger hunt, 25 participants entered a raffle to win a bike, helmet, and lock from Bike America, with Emayah Cabbil (pictured above) winning the prize.
City of Tamarac Bike Rodeo
The City of Tamarac held a Bike Rodeo on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Tamarac Community Center. As part of the rodeo, 34 participants entered a raffle to win a bike, helmet, and lock from Bike America, with Marianna Sosa (pictured above) winning the prize.

The City of Dania Beach held a Bike Rodeo on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at C.W.Thomas Park.
