Nature Detectives atFern Forest Nature Center
If your child would like to explore nature this summer, consider Nature Detectives at Fern Forest Nature Center, an adventure for children ages 8 to 11. Weekly sessions run June 22-26 and August 3-7. Each day's program runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with different topics daily.

Summer Horse Camp atTradewinds Park
A young girl taking care of a horse at the stablesAre your children interested in horses? Do they keep asking for a pony? Equestrian camp is an opportunity for children ages 9 through 16 to get real experience caring for horses on a daily basis. There will also be riding instruction (weather permitting) and instruction in grooming, saddling, horse care and maintenance, tack and equipment, and other activities.

The camp is offered in one-day, two-day, and four-day sessions: June 8, 9, 10, and 11 for one-day camps; June 15-16, 17-18, 22-23, and 24-25 for two-day camps; July 6-9, 13-16, and 20-23 for intermediate four-day camps; and Aug. 3-6 and 10-13 for advanced four-day camps. Camp is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Camp fees are $75 per day, $150 per two days, and $300 or $400 per four days, depending on the level. All camp participants must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Participants should also bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a towel. SCIENCE - the power to change the world! If your child likes science, then we have the camp for him or her. Campers are immersed in the roles of a scientist making observations, conducting experiments, engaging in field studies, and more. By participating in fun, interactive, hands-on projects, they'll learn to explore the world around them to gain new insights and become aware of why it's important to take care of the environment. The summer day camp runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 22-26, July 13-17, and August 3-7. The fee is $300 per camper for one week, $575 for two weeks, and $850 for all three weeks; preregistration is required by the Friday prior to the first day of camp. This includes field trips on Fridays, along with lunch and a snack daily. After-care is available from 4 to 5 p.m. for an additional fee. Summer Recreation at Neighborhood Parks
Mondays through Fridays • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (early dropoff available from 8 to 9 a.m. and late pickup from 5 to 6 p.m.) For ages 6 to 17 (6 to 10 at Boulevard Gardens and 13 to 17 at Sunview). Starts on June 15 and ends on August 14.

4-H Animal and Veterinary Science Camp
Dates: June 8 – 12, 2015

Ages: For ages 14-17

Registration Deadline: May 22, 2015

Cost: $225 (youth who are currently on the free and reduced lunch program at their school may qualify for an income-based discount price of $150 – please call our office for more information)

This week-long program is designed to expose youth interested in a career in veterinary medicine to large animal, small animal, and wildlife medicine through hands-on labs and field trips.

During camp, youth will gain hands on experience in dissection, suturing, first aid, physical examinations, x-ray reading, parasite identification, animal handling and more. They will also tour animal facilities throughout the county including the Broward County Humane Society, Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, Butterfly World, Tradewinds Stables, and University of Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center. Youth will hear from professionals in veterinary medicine and animal industries about careers in animal and veterinary science as well as volunteer opportunities in the community available to them as high school students.
 
**PLEASE NOTE: The Veterinary Science Camp will be traveling to multiple locations throughout the county. In an effort to maximize opportunities for campers while keeping transportation costs low, camp will meet in a different location each morning of the week.

4-H Camps at The Cottage in Flagler Village

Cost: $95 (youth who are currently on the free and reduced lunch program at their school may qualify for an income-based discounted price of $55)
Campers at the Cottage in Flagler Village will have a blast this summer discovering how to cook, sew, build robots, and construct wood working projects. Fun, hands-on activities will help youth gain knowledge and skills that will last a lifetime. Camps at The Cottage will also give youth a jump-start into 4-H projects which they can engage in year-round through 4-H clubs.

Two separate week-long sessions of camp are offered in each topic area. Youth do not have to attend both weeks of a camp. However, the sessions build on each other so if a child wants to attend Session B without attending Session A, they must show proficiency in the topic area and complete part of a 4-H project book. 4-H Camp Cloverleaf (Overnight Camp)
 
4-H Camp Cloverleaf is an exciting residential, overnight camp where 4-H'ers can experience nature and learn great life skills during a week of educational fun.

This year, Broward County 4-H will take part in the annual residential summer camp in Lake Placid, Florida, which runs from June 29 through July 3, 2015. During this weeklong stay, we will camp alongside 4-H’ers from Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Highlands counties, and will take part in a variety of activities such as team building, fishing, canoeing, swimming, campfires, singing, dancing, archery, and much more.

You don’t have to be a 4-H member to benefit from a life-changing week of learning while playing. Campers must be between the ages of 8 and 11 as of September 1, 2014. The camp fee is $225 (campers who are on the free and reduced lunch program at their school may qualify for a reduced camp rate of $180). The fee includes transportation, meals, and lodging.

This year’s registration deadline is June 8, 2015, although late registration will be accepted through June 19, with a late fee of $25. No registration will be accepted after June 19.

Please be sure to include all forms when submitting your registration, including camper/counselor application, the Florida 4-H Participation Form, and applicable fee. Payment must be made by personal check, money order, or cashier’s check, made payable to the Broward County 4-H Association. No cash will be accepted.
