The Air Quality Program operates and maintains a comprehensive network of air pollution monitoring stations throughout Broward County. Each monitoring site is strategically placed to represent population needs in Broward County. The Air Quality data gathered from these sites becomes part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) national air quality data base.

In order to provide accurate information about the air quality in Broward County, each monitoring site has equipment designed to measure specific pollutant concentrations. Several of the monitoring locations also measure meteorological conditions, such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and wind direction.

Locations of the Air Monitoring Network and the pollutants measured are:

Several of the monitoring locations also measure meteorological conditions, such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and wind direction. All of the pollutant data are retrieved hourly by a central computer via an automated telephone connection.
