The Air Quality Program operates and maintains a comprehensive network of air pollution monitoring stations throughout Broward County. Each monitoring site is strategically placed to represent population needs in Broward County. The Air Quality data gathered from these sites becomes part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) national air quality data base.

In order to provide accurate information about the air quality in Broward County, each monitoring site has equipment designed to measure specific pollutant concentrations. Several of the monitoring locations also measure meteorological conditions, such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and wind direction. All of the pollutant data are retrieved hourly by a central computer via an automated telephone connection.

With the help of Broward County’s Geographic Information System group two interactive maps of ambient air monitoring sites have been created:

(1)  A map of all air monitoring sites showing monitoring site locations, pollutants monitored, monitoring schedule, and instrumentation

(2)  A map of air monitoring sites with a drop down layers list that allows the user to select the pollutant to display.  All sites selected pollutants will display.  Please note if multiple pollutants are selected, they will layer over each other.

Locations of the Air Monitoring Network and the pollutants measured are:
