Through the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. Johnston, the community of 177 homes now benefit from reduced water and maintenance costs to residents while still having a beautiful and environmentally friendly landscape. Residents now boast of the reemerging Atala butterfly population in their township.
4-H Sharks Club, Bonnie Hadjucko, 4-H Leader
These 25 environmental stewards range from ages 8 – 17. The 4-H Club maintained the NatureScape Certified Demonstration Garden at the Museum of Discovery and Science for over a year and a half. The Club won 2nd Place at the Broward County Fair for their “Certified Yard” booth, which demonstrated the nine principles of a Florida-Friendly yard.
