Broward County regulates the storage of hazardous materials in above ground and under ground storage tanks. Our authority comes from Chapter 27, Article X, Storage Tanks from the Pollution Control Code of Ordinances of Broward County, Florida.

Storage tanks regulated under this section have capacities greater than 550 gallons if they are above ground and greater than 110 gallons if they are underground.  Tanks of smaller volumes are regulated under the Hazardous Material regulations.

This section manages the inspection and licensing of businesses which have storage tanks on their property to prevent contamination of our groundwater.
