FEMA began the process of updating Broward County’s flood maps in 2006. Broward County and Broward's 31 municipal governments have already received the the new preliminary flood maps.

The general public should look up their address and compare their current and proposed new flood zone map.

FEMA is in the process of resolving any appeals and will issue a Letter of Final Determination. Broward County and the municipal governments will have six months from the date of the Letter of Final Determination to adopt the revised flood maps.

Upon adoption, the maps will become effective and be used for flood insurance purchase and rating purposes. Developers and builders will be required to use the finished floor elevations for new construction and substantial improvements to existing construction.

Please check back to this website for additional information when it is available. Further information regarding the appeal and map adoption process is available by viewing the FEMA Guide.
