NOTICE:

Due to the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, the afternoon closure periods for the SE 3rd Avenue and Andrews Avenue Drawbridges will be suspended from October 30th through November 3rd, 2014.  These bridges will open on demand between 4:30-6:00PM on Thursday, Friday, and Monday.  Use US-1/Federal Highway, or SW 4th/7th Avenue (Avenue of the Arts) to avoid delays.

Broward County Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division maintains three drawbridges spanning the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Our Bridge Tenders work 24/7 to serve the commercial and recreational marine community. Additionally, we maintain 80 fixed bridges located throughout the County.

The three Broward County bridges open on demand exceptbetween the hours of 7:30 to 9a.m. and 4:30 to 6p.m. on non-holiday weekdays when they are locked down to accommodate rush-hour vehicular traffic. Only law enforcement vessels, tugs with tows and vessels in distress can cause the bridge to open during those times.
