National Volunteer Week 2011: April 10-16
Celebrating People in Action captures the meaning of this signature week

Honoring the people who dedicate themselves
to taking action and solving problems in their communities

Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week has grown exponentially each year, drawing the support and endorsement of all subsequent U.S. presidents, governors, mayors and other respected elected officials. National Volunteer Week embodies the energy and power that volunteers evoke on a daily basis as they lead by example not only encouraging the people they help, but motivating others to serve as well.

Keep Broward Beautiful is proud to take part locally in National Volunteer Week by recognizing our Adopt-A-Street program volunteers. Adopt-A-Street Volunteer Appreciation Week will coincide with National Volunteer Week, April 10 through 16, 2011. This is the 3rd Annual Adopt-A-Street Volunteer Appreciation Week and we have some special activities planned for April:

Adopt-A-Street program displays/posters in the downtown Government Center lobby, 115 South Andrews Ave., April 10-16 (and at participating city halls)
AAS Group Recognition at participating City Commission meetings
Eligible outstanding volunteer groups will be awarded President's Volunteer Service Award
Special Thank You prizes for groups coordinating cleanups during the month of April
Thank You Phone-A-Thon, April 25-29
Recognition advertisement in the Sun-Sentinel Community section on Sunday, April 17.
