Holiday Recycling Guide
The holidays are always a happy and festive time as we gather with family and friends to celebrate.
It is fun to go all out with decorations and gifts, but that means you will be generating a higher volume of waste from boxes, wrapping paper, holiday cards, Christmas trees, etc.
In keeping with the holiday spirit, many Broward residents want to be
environmentally-friendly during this time and recycle where possible. The table
below makes it easy to see which holiday waste items are recyclable and which
are not.

Where to Recycle Your Recyclables
All of your recyclable items, with the exception of Christmas trees, can go directly into your designated
recycling bin. Boxes that are too large to fit inside the bin should be flattened and placed beside it. Do not recycle packing materials such as
Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, or plastic ties.
Christmas Trees
Live Christmas trees (with the decorations
removed) can be recycled through Broward’s Chip-a-Tree program at participating parks in Broward County. There is a limit of two trees per vehicle, and park entrance fees will be waived for recyclers.
Artificial trees and trees with decorations can be included with your bulk waste.
Did Santa Bring You Electronics?
If you are lucky enough to get that new TV or computer you were hoping for, your replaced items can be taken to one of our electronics recycling drop-off stations. The stations are available to residents of participating cities with proof of residency. See locations, hours, and participating cities here
All items will be recycled, refurbished, or disposed of in a manner that is safe to the environment. Residents of non-participating
cities should contact their Public Works Department with questions regarding the safe disposal of electronics.
