Air Quality Division

Public Information and Education

Broward County is the second most populous county in the state of Florida, with a year-2000 population estimate of 1,623,018 residents.  As Broward County's population grows, pressures on the state of our air quality from industrial and vehicular emissions are increasing.  As part of the Air Quality Division's efforts to protect the local air quality, a comprehensive set of public outreach and educational strategies are developed and implemented to help residents become aware of environmental problems related to the quality of the air we breathe, and to learn about solutions and actions they can take to protect the air quality in Broward County. The Division works with schools, private and civic organizations, the regulated community and the general public to develop environmental awareness, partnerships, and training programs.
