Broward County Air Quality Program Smoking Vehicle Statistics & Trends

The Broward County Air Quality Program has compiled smoking vehicle statistics for fiscal years 2002 - 2008.  During this time period, over 2,400 smoking vehicle complaints (vehicles with visible tailpipe emissions which include cars, trucks, and buses), have been reported, and over 680 of those vehicles have been repaired or removed from the road.  The smoking vehicle program exists to improve the health and well-being of Broward County citizens and the environment by helping to keep the air free of pollution.  Below you will find the statistics and trends of the smoking vehicle program.

Definitions:

Warning Notices Escalated - The warning notices become citations.

Warning Notices Rescinded - The warning notice is revoked due to incorrect information, usually pertaining to respondent's address.

Warning Notices Complied - Respondents submit proof of vehicle repair and the Air Quality Program verifies compliance.
