The Airport's Artistic Side
While you're at the Airport, be sure to take in the artistic surroundings. FLL is a major participant in Broward County's Public Art & Design program, which places public art along roadways, in county libraries, parks, courthouses and many other facilities.
The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has participated in Broward County's Public Art program since the mid-eighties. Nearly 40 pieces of art have since been commissioned for display at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. A stainless steel sculpture graces the entry to the greenbelt surrounding the Airport. In the terminals, paintings, prints, quilts, lighted collages, terrazzo floors, sound art, photography and a lifelike sculpture are among the works of art that welcome passengers and announce they have arrived in Broward County.
In the airport's new consolidated Rental Car Center, Luminous Portals bring light and glass together in a mesmerizing vision of architecture, engineering and fine art. A stunning display of terrazzo artwork, inspired by Florida's mangrove islands, spans the facility on Levels 2, 3 and 4, and the Pedestrian bridge connecting Terminal 1/Concourse B.
