Kick-Off Public Meeting
Eighty people attended a Master Plan Update Meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Raintree Golf Resort in Pembroke Pines. The purpose of the meeting was to inform citizens, city officials, and the business community about the master planning process and provide the opportunity for community input.
Representatives from the Broward County Aviation Department provided statistics about North Perry Airport, a business update, and airport projects (past, present, and future). The Montgomery Consulting Group (a private consultant contracted to update the master plan) discussed the Master Plan process. Following the presentations, the attendees asked questions and provided their comments and suggestions.
Community input is an important part of the Master Plan process and will assist the County in determining the future needs of the airport and its facilities. The objectives of the Master Plan are to provide an inventory of current conditions, airfield alternatives, land use alternatives, make-up of the surrounding community, traffic forecasts, and recommendations for the airport's future.
This meeting is the first of several meetings where the Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) will offer community outreach opportunities to the neighboring city governments, the business community, and citizens for their input and comments.
