Directions To The Fort Lauderdale Shelter

General Directions

The shelter is located on the southwest corner of Perimeter Road of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Perimeter Road is accessible from Southwest 4th Avenue and State Road 84 in the north, from Lee Wagener Blvd in the west, and from Perimeter Road and Griffin Road in the south.

From I-95

Exit #30 Griffin Road and head west on Griffin Road (turn right on Griffin if you exit from I-95 South or turn left on Griffin if you exit from I-95 North). Travel west on Griffin to the first four-way intersection/traffic light, then turn right (north) on Ravenswood Road. Travel on Ravenswood Road to the first traffic light, then turn right (east) on Lee Wagener Blvd. which goes over I-95. When you come to the first stop, make a left (north) on West Perimeter Road. The road will shortly end in a "T". Make a left at the "T"in the road. In about ½ mile, turn right on SW 39 Street. Then turn right into the shelter parking lot.

From State Road 84

If you are traveling east on State Road 84, turn right (south) on Southwest 4th Avenue. If you are traveling west on State Road 84, turn left (south) on Southwest 4th Avenue. There is an Armory and Walgreens at the intersection of State Road 84 and Southwest 4th Avenue. Continue south on Southwest 4th Avenue through the four-way stop sign past Synder Park and the road will end at a "T". At the "T", turn right (west) on Perimeter Road. Continue on Perimeter Road when in about ½ it will make a sharp left hand turn and go under I-595 and it will eventually head in a southernly direction. About 1.5 miles from the intersection of Southwest 4th Avenue and Perimeter Road , make a left on Southwest 39th Street. Then turn right into the shelter parking lot.
