The Cultural Division works in partnership with the School Board of Broward County, Florida and many other agencies to provide a variety of resources designed to develop and/or strengthen arts education programs in the schools and the community.
 

  Family Arts & Ride Guide
2008 Family Arts & Ride GuideBroward County’s Cultural Division and Mass Transit Division have partnered to bring its residents a fully comprehensive Family Arts & Ride Guide. One of the many services offered by Broward County to the more than 450 not-for-profit cultural organizations and resident families, the guide is a listing of organizations that offer arts programming for your family, by name, location, phone number and website and cross-indexed by discipline.

  Arts Teacher of the Year Program

This program is sponsored in part by the William A. Krueger Foundation, the School Board of Broward County, Florida, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Cultural Foundation of Broward.

  Community Arts Education Study

Arts Education StudyThe 142-page report is available as a CD-rom or online as a PDF file.  The study describes the methodology and results of the cultural foundation of Broward's year-long research.  The report includes a five-year plan and extensive demographic information and statistical analysis that will be helpful for grant writers and arts education programmers.

  Community Arts in Education Database
The Cultural Division and the School Board of Broward County, Florida publish a directory of artists who are available to work in school and/or community-based settings in order to enhance learning in, with, and through the arts.

  Education & Community Development Grant
Child playing violinTo support collaboration among eligible entities in order to plan, implement and evaluate educational projects that promote the development of skills, knowledge or appreciation related to arts and culture. Eligible entities include government entities, cultural not-for-profit organizations, and qualified individual artists. Applicants receiving funding through other BCC grant programs are eligible to apply for an ECD grant as well.  Click here for Education Grants information
 
  School-based Arts Integration Grants
Each year Broward County provides a block grant to the School Board of Broward County, Florida to implement artist - teacher collaborations.  The purpose of these collaborations is to provide teachers with new skills that will heighten student motivation and strengthen learning across the curriculum.
 
  Arts in Education Committee
Arts in Education in action.This committee, which represents many stakeholder groups, including the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the Broward Cultural Division, teachers, administrators, arts and culture organizations and artists, works with Cultural Division staff to identify community needs related to arts education and develop, implement, and evaluate programs to address those needs.  Members of the committee also serve on grant and awards review panels, conduct site visits to evaluate and work with grantees and select the annual Arts Teacher of the Year.

  Partnerships
Cultural Division staff work with arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, community organizations and government entities to develop partnerships that will best serve the arts in education needs of individuals and communities.
 
  Public Art Education Outreach
Children playing saxophonesArtists who are commissioned by the Division's Public Art and Design program to create public works of art are also required to participate in an educational outreach activity as a condition of their contract. The arts in education program works to implement the most appropriate match of artist, work of art, community organization and activity to promote awareness and appreciation of these works of arts.

  The Kennedy Center's Partner's in Education Program
The Cultural Division partners with the School Board of Broward County, Florida and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts to implement the goals and strategies of the Kennedy Center's Partner's in Education Program. This program offers professional development to the partner members and provides resources that aid the local partners in the implementation of professional development opportunities for teachers and artists.
 
  Arts for a Complete Education
Florida's Singing Sons BoychoirFlorida Alliance for Arts Education, a statewide arts education organization works to ensure that every child in Florida receives a comprehensive and sequential high quality education by a certified arts teacher in all of the arts disciplines.
