Public art at Pembroke Pines ArtsPark
 

Project: Pembroke Pines River of Grass ArtsPark at Academic Village

Division/Dept: Broward Cultural Division and City of Pembroke Pines

Location: 17189 Sheridan Street (west of I-75 at NW 172nd Ave.)

Project Description: The River of Grass ArtsPark is located on 1.6 acres within the City of Pembroke Pines Academic Village and will consist of approximately 26,614 square feet in cultural center amenities.  Included in the ArtsPark: art gallery, 450-seat theater, classrooms, fine arts and dance studios, outdoor performances pavilion with seating for 1,200, sculpture garden, and parking. The ArtsPark shall be operated as a cultural center for regional artistic impact and serve all Broward County residents and visitors by providing cultural programming with professional artists for people of all ages.

Budget: $10,000,000 ($2.1 million from County)

Art Budget: $200,000

Artist: Carl Cheng

Architect: Synalovski Gutierrez Romanik Architects, Inc.

Milestones: Selection on September 9, 2002; Agreement executed on October 1, 2002

Year: Opening Dedication took place on March 28, 2003
