Cultural Council Committees
 

Planning Committee
The Planning Committee meets a minimum of twice a year (May and October) and as deemed necessary by the BCC. The Committee recommends the goals, objectives, and actions of the Council.

Goals: Broad statement or intent of direction
Objective: A specific plan which relates back to a goal and includes a time frame, measure of success, cost, and person or committee responsible.
Action: The “how to” accomplish the stated objective

In April, a mid-year report form is completed by each committee chair, which the Planning Committee reviews for mid-year recommendations to the Council. In October, year-end reports are submitted and the Planning Committee evaluates the year’s work, reviews the short and long-range plans and recommends changes necessary to address the needs and concerns of the Council for the next year (or years). The proposed plans are taken to the Council for approval at the November or December meeting.

2008 Council Goal - Cultural amenities and recreational services are accessible throughout the County from Sawgrass to Seagrass with emphasis on the rich cultural diversity of the community. Our citizens are able to blend work with play close to home because residents have services available to them with the opportunity to participate.

Committees are set up to implement annual or multi-year goals.  Members are urged to sit on committees that are of interest to them.  Committee business should be handled at the committee level and not in regular meetings.  If policy decisions cannot be agreed upon by the committee, their report should be reviewed at the Executive Committee prior to the regular meeting of the BCC.
